- Our Mission:
The Marley Fund is dedicated to making a difference in the fight against feline retroviruses, including both feline leukemia (FeLV) and feline immunodeficiency viruses (FIV), through public service, promoting awareness and educating the public. Knowledge about feline diseases and their prevention is essential to the Funds mission of stopping the viral cycles and ultimately eradicating feline retroviruses. As the only national nonprofit dedicated to offering an alternative option to immediate euthanasia, we have created a safe haven for infected catswhere quality care and life enrichment are the primary concern.

- Marley's Cat Tales Program
Marley's Cat Tales Program is the adoption division of Marley Fund. This division is dedicated to rescuing and finding homes for stray and abandoned animals, providing education on responsible pet ownership, on FIV and feline leukemia, the importance of trap-neuter-release and partnering with other rescue groups to help change the world for the animals to make their existence pain-free and full of love.
Marleys Cat Tales has healthy, medically up to date cats and kittens that are ready to fill your homes and hearts with love. Animals that will fill your days with companionship and joy beyond what you can imagine. They also have special cats - those that are FIV or FeLV positive, or with special needsneeding extra care or attention.
Marleys Cat Tales are comprised of a network of foster homes and other volunteers that rescue and care for the animals until they are adopted. They work in conjunction with other rescue groups, veterinarians and the community to educate regarding responsible pet ownership. Join us, Marleys Cat Tales, in our fight to make the world a better place for the animals. For more information on how you can help Cat Tales, contact carol@marleyfund.com.

- FIV Quick Facts:
* The Feline Immunodeficiency Virus is a slow virus that affects a cat's immune system over a period of years.
* FIV is a cat-only disease and cannot be spread to humans or other non-felines.
* FIV cats most often live long, healthy, and relatively normal lives with no symptoms at all.
* FIV is not easily passed between cats. It cannot be spread casually - like in litter boxes, water and food bowls, or when snuggling and playing. It is rarely spread from a mother to her kittens.
* The virus can be spread through blood transfusions, badly infected gums, or serious, penetrating bite wounds. (Bite wounds of this kind are extremely rare, except in free-roaming, un-neutered tomcats.)
* A neutered cat, in a home, is extremely unlikely to infect other cats, if properly introduced.
* Many vets are not educated about FIV since the virus was only discovered 15 years ago.
* FIV-positive cats should be kept as healthy as possible. Keep them indoors and free from stress, feed them a high-quality diet, keep and treat any secondary problems as soon as they arise.
